Welcome to the Tribune’s Roar community.
We created this platform because we are tired of the noise. This is a forum for independent thinkers to engage with complex ideas, and that requires a space free from the partisan “Us vs. Them” tribalism that has shut down productive conversation.
These guidelines are not about censorship; they are about quality control. They are here to protect the mission of this blog and to ensure the conversation remains productive, non-partisan, and solution-focused.
Our entire philosophy is built on one simple rule:
Engage with the idea, not the person.
To participate here, you must agree to follow the rules of the road.
Our Code of Conduct
1. What We Encourage
- Argue in Good Faith: Assume others are here to discuss, not just to “win.” Engage with their strongest points, not a “straw man” version of their argument.
- Challenge Everything (Respectfully): We encourage you to challenge the author and other commenters, even if you generally agree with them. Principled dissent is how we find the best solutions.
- Bring Data and Nuance: If you have evidence, a source, or a personal experience that adds context, please share it. The best conversations are built on new information, not just opinions.
- Focus on Solutions: If you critique a problem, try to propose a solution. This blog exists to find “Solution C” when we’re only offered A or B.
2. What We Prohibit
- No Personal Attacks: You must not engage in name-calling, ad hominem attacks, insults, or any language that demeans, harasses, or belittles another user or the author.
- No Partisan Tribalism: We will not tolerate comments that are simply partisan, “team-sport” talking points. This includes (but is not limited to) “whataboutism,” bad-faith heckling, and comments that exist only to signal allegiance to a party.
- No Trolling or Bad-Faith Engagement: If your comment’s only purpose is to provoke an emotional reaction, disrupt the conversation, or “own” another user, it will be removed.
- No Misinformation: We are a fact-based community. Do not knowingly post false or misleading information.
- No Spam or Self-Promotion: Comments that are clearly for self-promotion or are off-topic will be removed.
3. Our Enforcement
This is not a public utility; it is a moderated community. To protect the mission and the quality of the conversation, our team reserves the full right to remove any comment and to block any user who violates the letter or the spirit of these rules.
This is not a partisan decision; it is a quality-control decision. An appeal is not guaranteed.
Thank you for helping us build a better, more productive forum. Now, let’s get to work.
